A debate for Forsyth County Sheriff candidates is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the county administration building.

Incumbent Ted Paxton will face off with challengers Lauren McDonald and Duane Piper in the second event of their contest.

The three Republicans also took part in a late March debate. They will meet in the July 31 primary. Qualifying is set for May 23-25.

The debate Monday is also the second in the series put on by the Forsyth County Tea Party Patriots Alliance, which held a debate for county commission candidates May 8.

The sheriff hopefuls will begin the debate with a meet-and-greet period followed by opening statements, a question-and-answer portion and closing remarks.

Audience members can submit questions in writing at the event.

The third debate in the series, featuring the candidates for the U.S. House District 9 post, will be May 24.
