Forsyth County News
Due to the winter weather, all Forsyth County school sports events and activities have been cancelled for Friday night.

Snow began falling across the county about midday, with accumulations building throughout the afternoon.

The weather did not disrupt school classes, since students were out as part of a scheduled day off. Staff members were released for the day at 2 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a winter storm warning for the area after snowfall became heavier than originally predicted.

The winter storm watch is in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday. Meteorologists are expecting between 2 and 4 inches of snow to fall by midnight.

Information on the National Weather Service web site warns that roads across the area are becoming slick and “conditions are expected to deteriorate as temperatures fall.”

DOT officials are watching the weather and urging Northeast Georgia drivers to use caution.
