South Forsyth home damaged after garage burns
fire

The garage of a three-story home in south Forsyth suffered damage after it caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters put a blaze out on Rivergate Drive in the Grand Cascades subdivision after a landscaper noticed the garage was on fire and called 911 about 4:41 p.m. Aug. 1, Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Barry Head said.

The flames were contained to the garage, which received “moderate” damage, though the house suffered some smoke damage, Head said.

One resident was home at the time of the incident and was able to get outside safely.

No injuries were reported.

Head said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
