A member of the Forsyth County Republican party has been selected for a new district position.
Joel Natt was recently selected as chairman for the Georgia Republican Party’s 7th Congressional District after predecessor Jason Thompson accepted a position as Republican National Committeeman for Georgia. The 7th District is made up of portions of Forsyth and Gwinnett counties.
“District chairmen are in a unique role in the Georgia Republican Party,” Natt said on Tuesday. “They’re the liaison between various county parties they reside within and the state party. They help those leadership positions.”
Thompson was first elected to a two-year term chair in April 2017, and Natt will serve the remainder of his term and plans to run for re-election for the seat next April.
Natt was selected by committee members in the district and previously served as first vice chair of the district before his current position.
“It’s going to be a long season, and I’m looking forward to working with everybody,” Natt said.
