SOUTH FORSYTH -- Democratic state Senate candidate Daniel Blackman has opened a new campaign office in downtown Cumming and will hold an open house at the facility on Tuesday, Aug. 23.
The open house will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m., at 204 Dahlonega St.
Blackman is running to serve Forsyth County in District 27 of the Georgia Senate. His competition, incumbent Republican state Sen. Michael Williams, was elected in 2014.
Blackman ran unopposed in the Democratic primary in May. Williams also ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
“Our new office in downtown Cumming empowers our volunteers and grassroots leaders with a location to continue registering voters, training new volunteers and spreading our message of greater economic opportunity for every resident of Forsyth County,” Blackman said. “Together, we’ll find common ground to move Forsyth forward beyond November.”
Wilma Turner, chair of the Forsyth County Democratic Party, said the opening is good for the party.
“It’s exciting to have an official centralized location in the heart of Cumming where Democrats work together to get our local candidates elected,” she said.
The election for this post is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Voters will be able to support their candidate of choice when they cast their presidential election votes.
Clarkston Mayor Ted Terry will also be in attendance.
