CUMMING — Four people, including three children, were injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday near Cumming.

A sports utility vehicle reportedly struck a tree after the driver, an adult woman, lost control of the vehicle in front of the Lanier Golf Club on Buford Dam Road at Forest Drive about 3:20 p.m., according to Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver supposedly told deputies she swerved to avoid hitting a Jeep head on as she was traveling west.

Rodriguez said no impact was made with another vehicle, and no Jeep was found.

The woman and three juvenile passengers were taken to an area hospital. All injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

An adult man was also a passenger but did not require hospital care, Rodriguez said.

Traffic on Buford Dam Road was reduced to one lane for more than an hour, he said.

It was not immediately clear whether the occupants were wearing seat belts.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the incident.
