HALL COUNTY - A 3-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after he was left in a locked car for roughly three hours, according to authorities. He is now in stable condition.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office authorities responded after 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, to a woman’s 911 call in Chicopee Village, saying she “accidentally left the child unattended” in the car at her residence for roughly three hours.

“She stated that she’d dropped off her other two children at their grandmother’s home, and the third child had apparently fallen asleep in the car,” Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks wrote in an email.

Wilbanks said the woman left the grandmother’s house without realizing the child was asleep in the car, and the kid was not found “until some time after she had already been back home.”

City and county authorities came to the residence and took the boy to Northeast Georgia Medical Center as a precaution. Wilbanks said the boy was in stable condition as of 10 p.m. Monday.

The Division of Family and Children Services was notified about the case, which is still under investigation.

“There is no word at this time on charges,” Wilbanks wrote.
