Those wishing to play in the third annual “Swing a Club, Save Her Life” may register Thursday before the golf tournament or contact (678) 208-2000 or volunteer@abbahouse.com.
The public is invited to participate in a golf tournament Thursday for a local nonprofit that helps women and children.

Abba House’s third annual “Swing a Club, Save Her Life” is set for 8 a.m. Thursday at Saint Marlo Country Club.

Proceeds from the event will go toward a new 37,000-square-foot building that will house up to 67 women and children.

Robert Stumpf, volunteer coordinator, said organizers are hoping for a good turnout.

“We’ve got 17 teams at this time,” he said. “We would love to have [25].”

Participants may play in teams of four for $600 or as individuals for $200.

Stumpf said there will be a silent auction and door prizes, such as airplane tickets for two, overnight hotel stays and a $500 certificate to race a vehicle at the new Atlanta motorsports park planned for Dawson County.

“We have a lot of nice gifts,” he said.

The organization is trying to match a $1.5 million grant for the facility. To do so, Stumpf explained, it needs to raise cash, materials and volunteer labor hours.

“What we really need is contractors in each division like HVAC, electrical, framing, all those different contractors,” he said.

A company is providing the volunteer labor, but contractors are needed to pull permits for each phase of the development.
