A stretch of Ga. 400 north was shut down in the wee morning hours Tuesday after a tractor trailer caught fire near Exit 15.

According to Cumming police, a trucker called 911 about 4:50 a.m. after noticing flames coming from the engine compartment.

The 46-year-old driver, who was not hurt in the blaze, reportedly "had heard a strange noise come from his vehicle” near Exit 14 and pulled to the side to investigate.

Finding no problem, he then got back on the road before stopping again at Exit 15 when he saw flames coming from underneath the vehicle.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department also responded to the incident. All lanes reopened about 6:10 a.m.
