SOUTH FORSYTH — The state Department of Transportation plans to shift traffic Thursday night on Hwy. 141 between the Exit 13 ramp for Ga. 400 and the Waffle House.

According to the DOT, the shift will progress in sections overnight that require lane closures. Delays are expected in the area. The lane shift is slated to be complete by 6 a.m. Friday, weather permitting.

The work is part of the ongoing $5 million project to reconstruct the intersection of Hwy. 141/Bethelview Road and Hwy. 9, creating two through lanes, two left turn lanes and a right turn lane for each leg of the crossing.

The project also includes upgrades for the traffic signals and the addition of sidewalks. It should be completed by the end of the month.

“Construction season is under way, with warmer temperatures we expect to see work intensifying on all of our projects,” said Harold Mull, a DOT district construction engineer. “Extreme caution is necessary for motorists and workers.

“Please slow down as you travel through this work zone. Message signs are in place now to alert the community of the upcoming changes.”
