The efforts of two members of the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Board were recently recognized by the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.

Charlotte Gardner and Cindy J. Mills each received a State Volunteer Award during the association’s recent conference in Macon.

Gardner, an eight-year member, chairs the parks and recreation board. A resident of Forsyth County for more than 40 years, she is involved in local arts and cultural programs.

Mills, a lifelong county resident, has served on the parks and recreation board for 11 years.

She is also a founder and board member of the Forsyth County Parks Foundation, established in 2010.

Parks director Jerry Kinsey congratulated the women.

“Both contribute so much to the county and to our parks and recreation system, and we appreciate their time and dedication,” he said.
