FORSYTH COUNTY -- Two people were taken to North Fulton Hospital after their car was hit broadside by a large van just after 3 p.m. Monday in Cumming.

The car was struck in the passenger side by the van, which was travelling west on Bald Ridge Road just west of Ga. 400 at the intersection of Lanier 400 Parkway.

The impact caved in the passenger side of the car but did little external damage to the van.

The woman driving the car received moderate injuries, while the injuries to the man riding in the passenger seat were more serious, according to officials on the scene.

Both victims were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the van was not injured.

Traffic on Bald Ridge Road was narrowed down to one lane and detoured along Lanier 400 Parkway and back to Bald Ridge Road while Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office investigators gathered evidence on the incident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
