A local restaurant will be doing its part this weekend to help a police detective injured this summer during an investigation.

Beginning today, Los Maguey’s Mexican Restaurant on Bethelview Road will donate a portion of sales to the Patrick Apoian fund.

Apoian, an Atlanta Police detective who lives in Forsyth County, was seriously injured in July when he was run over by a suspect during a case in northeast Atlanta.

Apoian is the founder of Humble Heroes, an organization that collects money for firefighters and police officers who fall sick or are injured on the job.

The festivities will continue throughout the weekend with prize drawings beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at the eatery.

Los Maguey’s will also donate a portion of its sales made Sunday to the fund.
