A project to bring more traffic lanes on portions of Pilgrim Mill Road has begun.

Vertical Earth, the contractor on the project, announced in a press release that it has started the first steps to bring four lanes of traffic on Pilgrim Mill Road from Aquatic Circle to Freedom Parkway and three lanes from Freedom Parkway to Holtzclaw Road. The initial work involves clearing trees and installing erosion control measures. Construction crews will follow.

The project includes new traffic signals, curb-and-gutter sidewalks and a new bridge over Ga. 400 to accommodate the additional traffic lanes.

The project is expected to be completed summer of 2020.
