Bystanders at Holiday Marina told authorities a personal watercraft explosion sent a man into the water Wednesday evening.

Hall County Fire Services responded around 8:45 p.m. June 20 to Holiday Marina on Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford about a reported boat explosion.

One person was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for “evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries,” Capt. Zachary Brackett wrote in an email.

The watercraft was submerged near the docks, and authorities did not see fire.

“The patient was removed from the water with the assistance of bystanders and was ambulatory. Bystanders advised that the jet ski exploded, throwing the patient into the water,” Brackett wrote in an email.

No other injuries were reported, and Brackett said the cause is unknown.

No further information was released by authorities.
