Woman critically injured by vehicle in south Forsyth
emergency

A woman was struck and critically injured by a vehicle in south Forsyth County at about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Old Atlanta Road and Hilltop Drive in south Forsyth, just south of the Old Atlanta Club.

At this early stage in the investigation by the Forsyth County Sherrif's Office Traffic Safety Unit, Cpl. Doug Rainwater said that all they know is that the woman was in the roadway and was struck by a truck as it traveled down Old Atlanta Road. The woman reportedly suffered critical traumatic injuries in the wreck and has been transported to the nearest trauma center at North Fulton Hospital.

Rainwater also stated that there are no sidewalks or crosswalks along that stretch of road, so they are still interviewing witnesses to determine how the wreck occurred.

"That is not a common area for us to see pedestrians," Rainwater said. "Especially not at night."

There is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved, Rainwater said.

As of Thursday morning, authorities state that the woman is still in critical condition at North Fulton Hospital.

Old Atlanta Road was closed for a short time overnight, it has since been reopened.
