GAINESVILLE -- A woman’s body has been removed from Lake Lanier near the Dawsonville Highway (Hwy. 53) bridge.

Authorities responded to the scene about 11:30 a.m., after fishermen found what they believed to be a body floating in the lake and called 911, said Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Nicole Bailes.

The body was removed with the help of a Hall County Fire Services’ marine rescue boat.

No other information was immediately available.

“We have investigators on the scene at this time,” Bailes said.
