The Hall County Sheriff's Office has announced that the body of a deceased female was recovered from Lake Lanier on Friday morning.

According to a sheriff's office press release, the body of a 50-year-old woman, believed to be from the metro Atlanta area, was found in the lake near the Lake Lanier Islands golf course in south Hall County at about 10:45 a.m. Friday.

"The preliminary investigation indicated the body hadn’t been in the water for long," the release stated. "An employee of the resort had noticed the woman’s car as early as 6 a.m. Friday, in the same spot deputies found it."

The release states that the woman's belongings were found a short distance away inside her parked car and at this point they have found no indications of foul play.

The woman's identity and cause of death are pending further investigation, the release states.

A sheriff's office spokesman stated this is not the body of 31-year-old Madeline Sinagra, who jumped off a sailboat to go for a swim and went missing on July 22.
