Beginning Monday, Nichols Drive will be closed to through traffic between James Burgess and Nichols roads.
The closure, which is expected to last a couple of months, will allow crews to replace a failing pipe and build a new reinforced box culvert.
The larger culvert will be sized to better handle heavy rains, which likely will improve safety in the area.
The road is expected to reopen on or before Aug. 2, weather permitting.
“We appreciate motorists’ patience during this temporary closure,” said John Cunard, the county’s director of engineering.
The project is being funded through the current 1-cent sales tax program.
The work will be completed by Summit Construction & Development for about $121,000.
