Local authorities arrested a former employee of a south Forsyth County gym this week, in connection with a daylight burglary that took place at the gym in early December.

According to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on Dec. 8 deputies responded to Get Fit Now Fitness Studio on Commerce Boulevard to investigate reports of a burglary in progress that was being witnessed by a manager at the gym via a security camera.

The gym manager reported to deputies that a black male with a bald or shaved head could be seen inside the business’s office going through “client contracts.”

After clearing the business and discovering that the suspect had fled the scene without being noticed when deputies arrived on scene, investigators determined that the man had entered two separate offices and forced entry into a locked file cabinet.

Deputies were told that the suspect was going through folders containing client contracts, and would likely contain bank or credit card information.

Through security camera footage, gym managers were able to identify the suspect as a former employee, George Deandre Cannon, 33, of Atlanta, by the man’s physical appearance and stature.

On Jan. 8, 2020, Cannon was arrested at a location in Roswell and charged with one felony count of burglary.

As of Thursday evening, Cannon was being held in the Forsyth County Jail under a bond of $11,130.
