Lanier Technical College’s spring semester 2020 enrollment is the largest of any academic term in the history of the college.
The school announced 4,707 students were enrolled for spring semester, an increase of 1,650 new students.
It’s the second consecutive semester that Lanier Tech has reached all-time record enrollment, according to the school, and it’s occurring in one of the strongest economies on record in the state.
Georgia set another record last month with an unemployment rate of 3.2%, down from 3.7% in December 2018, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.
And Lanier Tech’s seven-county service area has the lowest unemployment rate of any of Georgia’s 22 technical colleges.
Technical colleges typically have lower enrollment during a strong economy.
“The record enrollment shows that more and more Georgians realize the value of a technical college education to obtain a great career and an outstanding collegiate education,” the school said in a statement.
