County should protect animals

Forsyth County News

Commissioner [Patrick] Bell doesn’t think animals should be the county’s concern?

I believe the county offices exist to assist the people. Animal welfare is an important part of that assistance. Animals are considered personal property in Georgia and the county is certainly involved in personal property.

I also believe the county should include educating the public on proper treatment of animals. Considering the number of animals in shelters, the need becomes apparent. We need stronger, reasonable laws and mandatory neuter and spay programs. It starts with local government and the local shelter.
