[In regard to letter author Tom Moneuse in the July 10 Forsyth County News]:
I have been an avid cyclist for the past three years. I totally agree with you about the fact that we all (cyclist and drivers) have a responsibility to obey the laws of the road.
What I do have an issue with is your obvious dislike for cyclists. The new law was put into effect just for this reason. Motorists think that the roads belong to them and no one else. I am a 50-year-old taxpayer, business owner, husband and father and I have every right to use our roads for cycling or commuting.
I will admit that from time to time, I have run through stop lights and signs, not as a disregard for the law but as a courtesy to motorists, to get out of the flow of traffic as fast as possible. Cyclists cannot move as fast as cars and we try to move out of their way as often as possible. It would be nice if they and you would have the same consideration.
