This is in response to the letter in the Forsyth County News on Sunday, June 23, 2013, written by Ms. Alyssa Giglia, “Background checks needed for guns.”
She referenced “Brady background checks” and stated “Every day, 33 Americans are murdered with guns and 140 are treated for gun assaults in emergency rooms.”
If those numbers are from the Brady campaign, they include deaths and injuries inflicted by law enforcement, in self-defense, suicide and accidental shootings.
Purchase of a gun at a gun show does require a background check or presenting a Georgia Weapons Carry License verifying you have passed a thorough background check. What gun show loophole?
Guns are bought online every day. Those guns are not sent directly to the purchaser but to a Federal Firearms Licensed dealer in your state for you to pick up after undergoing a background check.
You have been misinformed, misled or have not been exposed to the truth.
