The West Forsyth High School baseball team split the first two games of its state Class AAA second round playoff series Wednesday.

Host Carrollton held off the Wolverines 1-0 in Game 2 to force a deciding third game in the best-of-three series Thursday.

West won the first game 3-1.

In Class AAAAA, South closed out visiting Harrison in two games, winning the nightcap 11-1 in six innings.

The mercy rule was invoked after Curtis Parker’s grand slam.

Andrew Barna's fifth inning solo home run was the difference in Game 1 as South defeated the Hoyas 1-0.

Chris Rowley threw a complete game three-hitter, striking out eight for the War Eagles.
