North Forsyth’s swimmers made the most of their final state qualifying competition.

The Lady Raiders cruised to victory in their dual meet with Buford, posting 173 points to the Wolves’ 45, while the Raiders’ boys (111 points) easily outdistanced Buford (20), but couldn’t overcome Riverside (132) in a recent tri-meet at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville.

Coach Kris Hunt pointed out that Alex Papp qualified in a second state meet event, and praised Julia Maxie for earning a spot in a fifth state event, the 100 freestyle.

The state championships will be held later this week at Westminster in Atlanta.

“Julia has been a great asset to the team this year, both in her swimming quality and leadership,” the coach said.
“The swimmers have been working hard and performing well this season, and this was a really nice meet to close out the state qualifying portion of the season.

“I have been very pleased with the team this year and how [our swimmers] responded to me. Their effort and dedication has been great, and the support of the parents has been overwhelming.”
