North Forsyth brought rally caps to the season opener.

The Raiders’ baseball team overcame a 4-0 deficit by scoring five runs in the final three innings and eked out a 5-4 win against North Hall on Wednesday at Piedmont College in Demorest.

The two teams were tied 4-4 when Bones Dalken (1-for-4, RBI) — last season’s co-player of the year in Region 7-AAAAA — laced a two-out, line-drive single off the glove of the shortstop in the bottom of the seventh to score Will Foster and give North (1-0) the victory.

The Trojans had put the Raiders in a four-run hole earlier in the game, after sending three men across the plate in the top of the third.

Christopher Smith (2-for-2) walked in the bottom of the fifth and Matt Fuentes (2-for-3, triple, 2 RBI) finally got North on the board with an RBI triple. Fuentes came home on a ground out by Will Foster (1-for-3, RBI), cutting the deficit in half.

Singles by Jonah Howell and Smith set up an RBI single by Fuentes in the sixth, and Smith later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.

Foster singled and advanced to third in the seventh, setting up the game-winning hit by Dalken.

Smith earned the win on the mound for the Raiders.

North is set to face Central Gwinnett on Wednesday at 5:55 p.m. at Raider Field.
