The South Forsyth High School baseball team advanced to the second round of the state Class AAAAA playoffs, sweeping two games from Grayson at home on Friday night.

West Forsyth followed suit in the Class AAA playoffs, defeating host Stephens County in two games.

The first game of South's best-of-three series ended in dramatic fashion.

Trailing by a run with two outs in the seventh inning, Zack Alvord launched a two-run home run deep over the scoreboard in left field.

The shot, which came on the first pitch thrown to Alvord, gave the War Eagles a walk-off 5-4 win. South won the second game 4-2.

West Forsyth defeated Stephens County 5-1 in Game 1 of their Class AAA series behind a complete game, 10-strikeout performance from Michael Moch.

Moch came on in relief to close out second game, which the Wolverines won 11-9. The nightcap was delayed for a short time after the lights went out at the field in Toccoa.
