Denmark High has hired its first girls and boys soccer head coaches, the school announced on Tuesday night. Northview head coach Jen Barr will lead the girls program, and Mill Creek head coach Brett Godwin will head up the boys program.

Barr assembled a seven-year state playoff streak during her stint with the Titans, which included state finals appearances in 2010 and 2012. Northview struggled to a 3-11-1 record in 2017, but as of Wednesday, this year's Titans squad is 5-4-2.

Godwin is currently in his third year at Mill Creek, where he led the Hawks to a region championship in 2016 and to the second round of the state playoffs in 2017. He's a Lambert graduate, having played on the Longhorns' first two soccer teams in 2010 and 2011, and he went on to play college soccer at Presbyterian.

Denmark, located in the southwestern part of the county, will open this fall and will compete in Class 4A. The school will hold a meet-and-greet with its soccer coaches on Sunday at 3 p.m. at DeSana Middle School.
