Denmark made its first playoff appearance in program history Tuesday afternoon, dropping Game 1 in a best-of-three series to LaGrange, 7-0

Errors doomed the Danes in the loss, as LaGrange scored three runs on four Denmark errors in the fifth inning, breaking the game open with a three-run frame.

Aubri Childress took the loss for Denmark, pitching six innings and giving up seven runs — four earned — on nine hits, while striking out one and walking three.

Morgan Kilmer, Kayla Smith and Emily Armstrong finished with one hit a piece for the Danes.

LaGrange pitcher Camden Smith tossed seven innings of shutout ball, striking out 10 and giving up just three hits and one walk. Smith also hit a solo home run in the second inning for the game's first run.

Denmark (17-11) must win Game 2 tonight to keep its season alive. If the Danes win Game 3 will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
