4 from Central track qualify for sectionals

Forsyth Central finished 10th and seventh in girls’ and boys’ track, respectively, at the Region 7-AAAAA Track and Field Championships on Thursday at Cambridge.

Pope swept the girls’ and boys’ titles.

The Lady Bulldogs finished with 14 points, most of which came from field specialist Neo Wilde. After qualifying for Sectionals in the long jump on Tuesday, Wilde just missed qualifying in the high jump, finishing fifth with a jump of 4 feet 10 inches.

Stephanie Tourtilott scored for Central in pole vault, finishing eighth by clearing 6-6, while Jazmin Decker placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 79-7.

The Bulldogs boys’ team amassed 32 points. Max Warner led the way. After the sophomore qualified for Sectionals in the 1,600-meter run on Tuesday, he added the 3,200 on Thursday with a second-place finish in 9 minutes 42.10 seconds, a new school record.

Central saw Kwashack Davis qualify for Sectionals in the 110 hurdles with a third-place finish in 15.85.

The Bulldogs also got points from its 1,600 relay team of Will Hasse, Hunter McDonald, Nico Seaton and Warner, which finished sixth in 3:42.92. Hasse also placed in the 800, finishing eighth in 2:03.96, a new school record.

Frantzky Thomas qualified for Sectionals in the triple jump Tuesday, placing third with a jump of 42 inches.

Davis, Thomas, Warner and Wilde advance to the Class AAAAA Sectionals at Starr’s Mill on Saturday.
