Forsyth Central at Cass

When, where: Friday, 7:30 pm, at Doug Cochran Stadium in Cartersville.

Records, rankings: Central is 2-0 and unranked in Class AAAAA; Cass is 1-1 and unranked in Class AAAAA.

Series history: Tied 1-1.

Last meeting: Central won 28-0 in 2011.

What to know: Central is an improbable 2-0 and can move to 3-0 for the first time since 1997 with a win in their second trip to Cartersville in as many weeks. Shaun Diebel has rushed for 340 yards and five touchdowns this season; Sabrian Howard ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns last Friday and posted a 68-yard touchdown run against Dawson County. Georgia High School Football Daily named Bulldogs tight end Quincy Peppers, left tackle Tyler Dahlberg, left guard Josh Weilhrauch, center David Allen, right guard Ethan Jagnandan, right tackle Hunter Lamm and tight end Patrick Little as the state’s ‘Linemen of Distinction’ for their blocking that paved the way for Diebel and Howard.

Cass snuck by Class AA Coosa, 21-13, last Friday after a season-opening 41-7 loss to Cartersville. The Colonels scored all 21 of their points in the third quarter: Trevor Lowe threw a 50-yard touchdown pass, Keelyn Wilkey ran in from five yards out, and Laizon West registered an 18-yard rushing touchdown. Cass held off a late Coosa rally with a methodical drive that ran off the final 3:42. According to the Maxwell projections, Cass is a three-point underdog in Friday’s game.
