Grayson at Lambert

When, where: Saturday, 7 p.m., at Lambert High School in Suwanee.

Records, seedings: Grayson is 22-6 and the No. 3 seed from Region 8-AAAAAA; Lambert is 22-6 and the No. 2 seed from Region 6.

What to know: Grayson took a big step forward this season. The Rams set a new record for wins in a season and reached the state tournament for the first time since 2004. It helped having a quartet of senior returners in C.J. Brown, Marquise Bumpas, Marquise Lanier and Austin Morris, particularly Lanier, who led Grayson in scoring last season at 14.2 points per game.

But Lambert took a big step of its own this season. The Longhorns also broke a school record for wins in a season, reached the region championship for the first time and are hosting their first state playoff game in program history. It helped having the senior trio of Joe Bates, Logan Bush and Trevor Shipes along with guards Jake Morris (junior) and Tanner Hall (sophomore). But newcomers Grant Lancaster and Patrick Noble, both juniors, have been big contributors off the bench.

What’s next: The winner plays the Etowah-North Gwinnett winner.
