West Forsyth at Lambert
When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at The Horn in Suwanee.
Records, rankings: West is 5-2, 5-1 in Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked; Lambert is 6-1, 6-0 and unranked.
Series history: Lambert leads 2-1.
Last meeting: Lambert won 33-27 in 2014.
What to know: Lambert remains as the only team with an undefeated region mark, and its biggest test of the season will come Friday against a West team riding high after an emotional victory last week against South Forsyth, which was previously unscathed in league play.
Lambert’s defense contrasts the high-powered West attack. The Longhorns have allowed 14, 14, 7 and 7 points in their last four respective contests, while West is scoring 42 points per game in region play. Last week the Wolverines had to overcome two double-digit deficits to defeat the War Eagles, leading many to wonder if they have enough in the tank to play another game in a big atmosphere.
Lambert’s power rushing attack should create a different game tempo than the points-at-will showcase South and West put on last week, seemingly scoring every few minutes. Harrison Pomfret leads Lambert with 119 carries for 426 yards—just a 3.6 yard-per-carry average—but clearly remains the focal point of the offense with five touchdowns. Meanwhile, West quarterback Kiernen Hamilton and receiver Ben Bresnahan will look to continue the rhythm they created last week. Three of Bresnahan’s six catches last week went for touchdowns.
