What to know: Lambert and Wheeler have both had up and down seasons to this point, and each will be looking to create some momentum heading into respective region play in two weeks.

The Longhorns fell to Lanier—a top-5 team heading into the season—in heartbreaking fashion on Friday after taking a 21-7 lead with big plays. They’re still searching for the right combination in the ground game. Last year’s leading rushers in Brian Wright and the Kohlins brothers both have dealt with injury, as has Harrison Pomfret, so Justin Bruno got the nod on the road last week and produced with big plays—including two long touchdowns. Bruno and Marcus Chatelain should be the go-to combo again this week.

Wheeler had an injury to its starting quarterback in the early part of the season, but the signal caller Gabe Magerkurth has bounced back and is still trying to get back into a rhythm with the offense. The Wildcats have losses Centennial by 14 points and Walton by 21, but defeated South Cobb 30-12 and Marietta 35-19 on the road in the season opener.
