Mississippi’s best couldn’t handle Dylan Biumi and Lambert baseball Thursday.

Biumi pitched six strong innings to lead the Longhorns to a 7-0 win over Lewisburg to advance to the semifinals of the USA Baseball Classic in Memphis.

No. 1-ranked Lambert improved to 16-0.

Biumi flummoxed Mississippi’s defending Class AAAAA champions scattering two hits while striking out five. He retired nine straight to start the game and faced just three batters over the minimum.

Kyle McCann led the Longhorns at the plate with a two-run double. Jeremy Johnson had two hits and an RBI, Harrison Lee had two hits and Jake Chickowski hit a double.
