Roy to step down as Lambert girls basketball coach

Lambert girls basketball coach Chris Roy is stepping down from that position, citing personal reasons.

Roy initially came to Lambert in 2017, becoming the school’s head girls golf coach after a successful eight-year stint as boys coach at West Forsyth, where he also was an assistant on the girls basketball staff. He became the third girls head basketball coach in Lambert’s history after the resignation of former coach Jaime Fisher, for whom he had served as an assistant for the 2017-18 season. In Roy’s only season leading the Longhorns' girls basketball team, they finished 8-18, with a 2-8 mark in Region 5-7A play.

Roy will continue to coach the golf team this spring. In 2018, he led the Longhorns to a third-place finish at state with just one senior, earning county girls Coach of the Year honors.

Roy could not immediately be reached for comment.
