This time, Seth Beer found out right away.
The Lambert junior outfielder was among the first group of players announced Thursday to play in the 8th-Annual Under Armour All-America Baseball Game at Wrigley Field on Aug. 15.
Beer is among five players from Georgia in the group of 13, including St. Pius X pitcher/infielder Garrett Gooden, Walton third baseman Carter Kieboom, McEachern pitcher Alex Speas and Norcross pitcher Graeme Stinson.
Beer participated in the event last year as one of just two underclassmen invitees. He was a late selection but reaped the benefits of four days of baseball activities, including workouts in front of MLB scouts and a home run derby.
Beer came to prominence last season in helping Lambert win the Class AAAAAA baseball championship while hitting .589 with 10 home runs and 56 RBIs and going 6-0 on the mound with 0.53 ERA in 39 1/3 innings.
