Lambert defender Lauren Sykora will play soccer at (Div. III) Berry College next season.

"I liked what they had to offer," Sykora said. "They have a family atmosphere and more of a community."

Although Berry College finished the 2012 season 4-11-2, Sykora is confident she can help make a difference.

"Berry didn’t have a good season, but hopefully we can turn that around," she said. "[The coach] said I’ll be a big impact on the team. I want to work on coming forward more and playing more of a midfield role and carrying the ball up more."

Sykora has already received a summer workout packet from her coaches. Some of the drills include a timed three mile run, speed and agility training and a mile run under six minutes.

"If I want to play, then I need to be at my best," she said.

Sykora plans to major in biology and hopes to go on to physician assistant school at Emory University.
