Lambert sophomore Brooke Miller committed verbally to during the weekend to play softball at the University of North Carolina. Miller is the second sophomore in the county to commit to an ACC program, after North Forsyth's Mallorie Black committed to Georgia Tech over the summer.

Miller, an infielder, is one of the best hitters in the region, having earned all-county honors for her performance as a freshman, when she hit .383 with six doubles and five home runs. She has been hampered by injury this year and has only played in seven of Lambert's 13 games, but Miller has hit .429 with five doubles and a home run during her time in the Longhorns' lineup. Lambert is 7-2, a game ahead of South Forsyth (6-3) in the Region 5-7A race.
