Forsyth County News

When, where: Wednesday, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., if necessary 6 p.m. Thursday at Lambert

Records, seedings: Lambert is 28-3 and the No. 1 seed from Region 6-AAAAAA; Dacula is 19-6 and the No. 4 seed from Region 8.

On Lambert: The Lady Longhorns were expected to win the region title entering the season and did just that. Lambert has already won the most games in program history and earned its first region title with a win over South Forsyth.

"Our goal was to win the region, so everything we do from here on out is icing on the cake," Lambert coach Dana Corr said.

On Dacula: Dacula leans on junior Kristan Lizardi to get the job done. Lizardi leads all starters with a .395 batting average and has an impressive .441 on-base percentage.

"They’re a good, little team," Corr said. "That’s a tough region, so we have to come out and play great defense, our hitting has to be on and we’ll be looking for Kassie [Howard] to lead us. They’re competitive. They’re solid defensively and solid all around. …They’re a good team and we’ll have to play Lambert softball."

What’s next: The winner plays the winner of Collins Hill-Woodstock.
