Lambert’s tennis squads saw their seasons end earlier than usual — both suffering 3-2 losses in the state quarterfinals.
The No. 5-ranked Longhorns (13-8) fell 3-2 to No. 4-ranked Chattahoochee (18-5) on Monday at the Lambert courts after splitting a pair of matches with the Cougars earlier in the season.
Jake Bouchillon won 6-4, 6-3 at 2 singles and the team of Ben Bassel and Zubin Irani earned a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win at 1 doubles for the Longhorns, but Austin McCormick fell 3-6, 0-6 at 1 singles, Lincoln Metz was defeated 3-6, 6-3, 4-6 at 3 singles and the team of Andrew Hemings and Chase Watton lost 2-6, 6-2, 4-6 at 2 doubles.
The No. 4 Lambert girls (14-5) lost to No. 3 Marist 3-2 for the second time this season.
Marist (20-2) also defeated the Lady Horns for the state title last year.
Lambert received victories from Karlee Bryde at 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, and the team of Sydney Topper and Morgan Adams at 2 doubles, 7-6, 6-2.
Jessica Owen dropped her 2 singles match 1-6, 1-6, Ashley Barron fell at 3 singles 1-6, 0-6, and the team of Taylor Lefton and Kealee Heffner lost at 1 doubles 6-4, 7-6, 6-2.
