With only a slight limp, Haley Simpson circles the softball field at North Forsyth High School in the sweltering heat, retrieving balls that have either been fouled back or hit over the outfield fence. Anything to help practice run smoother. She doesn't have to be there, and admits that having to watch her teammates rather than playing with them is gut-wrenching.
