PREP ROUNDUP: Forsyth Central baseball opens region play with win

Forsyth Central 6, Cambridge 2

Parker Morrison struck out eight in five strong innings as the Bulldogs got off to a good start in their Region 7-AAAAA opener Monday at home.

Morrison earned the win for Central (3-1, 1-0), allowing just two hits, while Ryu Head got the save.

Taylor Bauman led the Bulldogs at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBI. Luke Sutko also had a home run and two RBI, while Parker Biederer had three hits.

Lambert 2, Mill Creek 0

Zach Grevano was dominant on the mound as the Longhorns earned a non-region victory Monday on the road.

Grevano pitched a complete-game shutout for Lambert (2-2), allowing just two hits and two walks and striking out seven on just 80 pitches.

Griffin Jarrett led the Longhorns at the plate with two hits and two RBI.

Holy Innocents 10, Pinecrest Academy 6

Ryan McCarthy went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run but it wasn’t enough as the Paladins dropped a non-region game Monday at home.

Ben Goebbel added a double for Pinecrest (0-4).

South Forsyth 10, Lanier 4

Connor McKnight helped the War Eagles remain undefeated going 2-for-2 with three RBI in a non-region victory Monday at home.

Brennan Vincent got the win for South (5-0), allowing two walks and not hits while striking out four in 2 2/3 innings of relief.

The War Eagles also got big contributions from Bradley Prince Jr. (2-for-3, 2R, RBI), Alex Andronica (2-for-3, R) and Max Schmal (0-for-2, 2BB, 2RBI).


Holy Innocents 15, Forsyth Central 4

Christian Neubert led the Bulldogs with two goals in an Area 3-A/AAAAA game at home.

Goalies Cohen Holton and Jason Mamrick both made several impressive saves but too many defensive breakdowns hurt Central (1-4, 0-1).

Buford 16, West Forsyth 14

Reed Bagwell had four goals but it wasn’t enough as the Wolverines suffered their first loss of the season Monday in a non-area game on the road.

Josh Stone and Garrett Wicker each added two goals for West (3-1).


Lambert 6, Etowah 0

Maggie Hanusek had a hat-trick as the No. 1-ranked Lady Longhorns cruised to a non-region victory Monday at home.

Briarly Beauchamp added two goals for Lambert (6-0), while Keely Cartrett also had a goal.
