South Forsyth 2, Milton 0
MILTON – Landon Sims threw a shutout as the War Eagles earned a Region 5-7A victory Monday on the road.
Sims allowed just four hits over seven innings while striking out five for South (11-7, 4-3).
Sims also had two hits at the plate, as did Brett Graczyk and Bradley Prince Jr. Grant Pearce had an RBI.
South third at Gwinnett Open
John Lichtenwalner shot a 72 to lead the War Eagles to a third-place finish at the Gwinnett Open this past Saturday.
The event was a modified stableford tournament, which uses a point system: bogey is one point, par is two, birdie is four, etc., etc. Lichtenwalner’s 72 counted for 37 points. South finished with 138 team points.
Judson Meadows shot 74 for 35 points, Barrett Hopper shot 75 for 34 points and Cameron Stokes shot 74 for 32 points.
West sixth at Packer Invitational
MOULTRIE – Jason Quinlan shot a 74 as the Wolverines shot 315 to place sixth at the Packer Invitational on Saturday.
West finished just shot outside of the top five, behind winner Woodward Academy (300), Columbus (304), St. Pius (305), Harrison (308) and Camden County (314).
The Wolverines also got strong performances from Connor Pollman (78), Peyton Balent (79), Austin Jaynes (84) and Ryan Pollman (85).
Forsyth Central 3, North Springs 2
ATLANTA – Josh Allen scored with three minutes left to give the Bulldogs a non-area victory Monday on the road.
Grayson McCart and Christian Neubert scored the other goals for Central (5-6, 0-4 Area 5-6/7A).
Jason Mamrick made 14 saves in goal.
Pinecrest Academy 14, North Forsyth 13
Jack Binkley had five goals and three assists as the Paladins scored the final four goals for a non-area victory Monday on the road.
Colin Spillane added three goals for Pinecrest (9-2), while Wills Brown and Carson Holler had two goals and two assists apiece. Ryan DiFazio added two goals and an assist.
Drew Hendren made seven saves.
The win followed a big 17-6 Area 3-1/5A victory for Pinecrest on Saturday against Holy Innocents. Binkley had four goals and five assists in the win, while Spillane added five goals. Drew Hendren made 10 saves in goal.
West Forsyth 16, South Forsyth 2
Josh Stone had three goals as the Wolverines cruised to an Area 5-6/7A victory Monday.
Jimmy Martelli added two goals and five assists for West (12-1, 5-1).
