Twelve Pinecrest Academy football players were named to the All-Region 6B-1A Private football team.
The Paladins, who went 4-7 in the second year of head coach Terance Mathis’ tenure, improving from a 0-10 mark the year prior, placed four players on the first team offense: Senior tight end David Stubbs, who caught 24 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns; senior running back Patrick Sullivan, who rushed for 735 yards and seven touchdowns on 154 carries; senior offensive lineman Zach Schechtman; and junior long snapper Peter Haynes.
On defense, senior defensive end Stone Brown, who amassed 67 tackles, including three sacks and eight for a loss, was named region Lineman of the Year. Junior linebacker Joey Kiernan, who had 95 tackles, and senior defensive back Colby Mangan, who had three interceptions and a fumble recovery, were named first team defense. Haynes and freshman kicker Colin Brown were named first team special teams.
Mangan and senior quarterback Ryan DiFazio were named second team offense, and senior defensive end Peter Hoover was named second team defense. Stubbs and Sullivan were named honorable mention defense.
