Mount Paran Christian at Pinecrest Academy

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Pinecrest Academy Stadium in Cumming.

Records, rankings: Mount Paran is 9-0, 4-0 in Region 6-A, Div. A and ranked No. 1; Pinecrest is 8-1, 5-0 in Region 6-A, Div. B and unranked.

Series history: Mount Paran leads 2-0.

Last meeting: Mount Paran won 35-19 in 2015.

Series history: On September 25th Pinecrest dropped its first game of the season to Mount Paran at home. The Paladins haven’t lost since.

Win Friday, and the Paladins will have tied for their best regular season finish in program history. In 2009, Charles Wiggins led the team to an 11-2 record after winning two state playoff contests following a 9-1 finish.

Pinecrest will have its second shot at stopping Mount Paran’s Taylor Trammell. The Georgia Tech baseball commit has dominated on the football field, rushing for 1,939 yards on 188 carries and scoring 30 times. He’s also intercepted three passes. Trammell, much like Dorian Walker from Mount Paran’s state title team last year, is the engine of the offense.

Pinecrest’s best shot at beating the Eagles is controlling the football for long periods of time. A win for the Paladins would likely mean jumping to No. 1 in the GHSA Class A power ratings system, which would earn them a No. 1 seed heading into the state playoffs as region champions. If the Paladins lose they will be seeded No. 9 or back.
