What to know: Pinecrest Academy has had two weeks to prepare for Walker since a 21-14 victory over North Springs on Aug. 22. It was the first victory for the Paladins against a team in a higher classification than AAA, which is a big reason why Pinecrest came in at a surprising No. 4 in the first GHSA Power Ratings that determines the 16 teams that make the Class A private school playoffs. Pinecrest looked the part of a contender with a stingy defense and diverse offensive attack against North Springs. Mitchell Ojeda rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries, Matthew Walters scored a touchdown and Adam Guard caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Ryan McCarthy.

Walker comes in after a 31-28 come-from-behind victory over Kings Ridge last week. The Wolverines went ahead on a 1-yard touchdown run by James Pittinger in the fourth quarter that was set up by J.T. Wood’s 89-yard kickoff return. Wood was the standout for Walker, rushing for 149 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries as the Wolverines piled up 308 yards of offense. Pittinger also rushed for a touchdown. On defense, Walker had three interceptions.
