When, where: Tonight, 7:30 p.m., at Pinecrest Academy Stadium in Cumming.

Records, rankings: Mt. Vernon is 0-2 and unranked in Class 1A; Pinecrest is 1-1 and unranked in Class 1A.

Series history: Pinecrest leads 5-0.

Last meeting: Pinecrest won 56-27 in 2012.

What to know: Mount Vernon isn’t much competition. The Mustangs have had one winning season since 2006, and that won’t change this season, as they have lost both games by 34 and 33 points, respectively. However, Pinecrest was supposed to demolish Cross Keys last week, but instead had to rely on a game-winning field goal by Chris Birozes to squeak out the 10-7 win.

The Paladins will run the triple-option for the first time this season after allowing sophomore Jake Mangan to feel comfortable behind center. Although the offense sputtered last week, the defense held strong, forcing 12 tackles for loss and two fumbles.
