POWDER SPRINGS — South Forsyth managed to keep pace with one of the top teams in Class 7A basketball Wednesday, but McEachern ultimately proved too much, as the War Eagles fell 59-53 in the Sweet Sixteen.
South Forsyth (18-12) outscored McEachern 47-43 in the final three quarters of the game, but a 16-6 deficit after the first period put the War Eagles in an early hole.
Senior Sharife Cooper, a McDonald's All-American and Auburn signee, had 30 points to lead McEachern.
South Forsyth, which finished second in Region 5-7A, had its most successful season this year under head coach Scott Givens, including the program's first home playoff game, which the War Eagles won against Parkview, 62-53.
